God Does Not Need Your Business Plan. He Needs Your Obedience.
Here is something that will make every business strategist cringe.
Your business plan is not what secures your future.
I know that sounds crazy. I know you have spent countless hours crafting the perfect strategy. I know you have analyzed the market, studied the competition, projected the numbers, and built a plan that makes sense. I know you have done everything you were supposed to do.
And none of it guarantees anything.
Proverbs 16:9 says it plainly. "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps."
You plan. You strategize. You create spreadsheets and timelines and five-year projections. And God establishes. He decides what actually happens. He opens doors. He closes doors. He redirects. He delays. He accelerates. He brings people in and takes people out. He does whatever He wants with your carefully crafted plan.
And here is the hard truth that nobody tells you. Your business plan is not what God is after. Your obedience is.
Think about it. God does not need your strategy. He does not need your projections. He does not need your market analysis. He is God. He already knows everything. He does not need your help figuring out the best path forward. What He wants is for you to listen to Him and do what He says.
Not because your strategy is bad. Because your obedience is the thing He actually cares about.
The world says success comes from having the right plan. Faith says success comes from doing what God tells you, even when it makes no sense. The world says you need to be strategic. Faith says you need to be obedient. The world says you need to control outcomes. Faith says you need to trust the One who controls outcomes.
Here is what that looks like in real life. It looks like saying yes to something that does not make financial sense because God told you to. It looks like saying no to something that looks like a sure thing because God told you to walk away. It looks like taking a risk that everyone around you thinks is crazy because you know God is in it. It looks like staying in a difficult situation because God has not released you yet. It looks like walking away from a comfortable situation because God is calling you somewhere else.
That is what obedience looks like in business. And it looks foolish to the world.
But here is the thing. Obedience is the only thing that actually works. Not because it guarantees success. It does not. But because it puts you in alignment with the One who actually determines success. When you obey, you are walking with God. And walking with God is the only place you can be where you are actually safe.
Not safe from difficulty. Not safe from struggle. Not safe from failure. Safe in the sense that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. And there is no better place than that.
So stop obsessing over your business plan. Stop thinking that if you just get the strategy right, everything will work out. Stop believing that your future depends on your ability to plan well.
Your future depends on your ability to obey. And your ability to obey depends on your willingness to listen. And your willingness to listen depends on your relationship with the One who is speaking.
God does not need your business plan. He needs your obedience. Give Him that. And let Him worry about the outcome.
