The World Runs On Control. Faith Runs On Surrender. Guess Which One Actually Works.

Here is what 30 years in business taught me.

The world says you need to be in control. Faith says you need to surrender. The world says you need to protect yourself. Faith says you need to trust God. The world says you need to secure your future. Faith says you need to secure your soul.

And here is the thing nobody tells you. The world's way does not actually work. It just looks like it does for a while.

Think about it. Every business leader is trying to control outcomes. They build strategies. They create systems. They manage risks. They protect assets. They plan for every scenario. And they spend their entire lives exhausted because they are trying to do something that is impossible.

You cannot control the economy. You cannot control the market. You cannot control your competitors. You cannot control your employees. You cannot control your clients. You cannot control the person who decides to sue you or leave you or lie about you. You cannot control the pandemic that shuts everything down. You cannot control the technology that makes your product obsolete overnight.

But you keep trying.

And that is the problem. The world's approach to business is built on a lie. The lie that you can control enough to be secure. The lie that if you just do everything right, you will be safe. The lie that your future depends on your ability to manage every variable.

It does not. Your future depends on God. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you can actually lead.

Faith-based business is not business with prayer added. It is not business with Christian values. It is business built on an entirely different foundation. The foundation that God is sovereign over everything, including your business. That He is the one who opens doors and closes them. That He is the one who gives success and allows failure. That He is the one who builds and tears down. That He is the one who restores and establishes.

And your job is not to control outcomes. Your job is to obey. Your job is not to secure your future. Your job is to trust the One who holds it. Your job is not to protect yourself. Your job is to follow Him wherever He leads, even when it makes no sense.

This is what Peter was talking about in 1 Peter 5:10. "After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace will Himself restore you, secure you, strengthen you, and establish you."

Notice who is doing the work. God. Not you. He restores. He secures. He strengthens. He establishes. Your job is to walk through the suffering and let Him do what only He can do.

This is the opposite of how the world operates. The world says you need to restore yourself. The world says you need to secure yourself. The world says you need to strengthen yourself. The world says you need to establish yourself.

And it is exhausting. Because you cannot do any of those things. You can try. You can work harder. You can build more safeguards. You can make more plans. But you cannot actually secure your future. You cannot actually establish your business. You cannot actually make yourself strong enough to withstand everything that comes.

Only God can do that.

And here is the beautiful thing. When you stop trying to do what only God can do, you are freed up to do what only you can do. Obey. Trust. Follow. Serve. Lead. Love. Steward. Build. Create. Serve your people. Love your customers. Honor God with your business.

You stop carrying the weight that was never meant for you. You stop trying to control what you were never meant to control. You stop exhausting yourself trying to be God when you were only ever meant to be His child.

This is why faith-based business is the only way that actually works. Not because it guarantees success. It does not. Not because it protects you from failure. It does not. But because it aligns you with reality. The reality that God is God and you are not. The reality that He holds all things together. The reality that your future is in His hands, not yours.

And when you finally accept that reality, everything changes. You stop making decisions from fear. You start making decisions from faith. You stop protecting what you have. You start stewarding what you have been given. You stop trying to control outcomes. You start trusting the One who holds them.

That is the opposite of what the world does. And it is the only thing that actually works.
